Since Summer 2020, Quincy Public Schools has been working in partnership with VISIONS, Inc. on professional development and initiatives related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in QPS. In collaboration with the school-based DEI teams and the QPS DEI team, surveys were developed for students in Grades 6-12, parents/guardians, and educators to assess current thoughts and feelings related to DEI in QPS and seek input on areas of growth.

Dec. 15, 2020
Dear Quincy Public Schools Students, Parents, and Guardians,
Given the winter storm forecasted for Wednesday evening, Quincy Public Schools will most likely be impacted for in-person teaching and learning on Thursday, December 17 and possibly on Friday, December 18. The Department of Elementary & Secondary Education has given school districts the option to schedule remote learning days rather than “no school” snow days that would have to be made up at the end of the school year in June. Earlier in the fall, the Quincy School Committee approved the “snow day” plan of early release remote learning days for all students in Grades 1-12. This school day will have the same schedule as a regular Wednesday remote learning early release day. There will be no Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten classes and Grade 5 APP students should attend their regular Wednesday remote learning classes.
I will be consulting with Mayor Thomas Koch and Public Works Commissioner Al Graziano on Wednesday in order to make a decision by Wednesday evening which will be shared on the Quincy Public Schools website and social media, Instant Alert, and on local television stations. A separate decision regarding potential school closure on Friday will be made on Thursday evening or early Friday morning and communicated in the same way.
Sincerely,
Kevin W. Mulvey, J.D.
